Romney on Jay Leno Talking About Health Insrance
Romney on Jay Leno last night. Highlight mine.
On health care, Leno pushed Romney to explain what he would offer Americans with pre-existing medical conditions so that they might retain their coverage, perhaps the most popular provision of the president’s healthcare law.
“People with pre-existing conditions, as long as they have been insured before, they are going to be able to...

Michael Tomasky writes: Behind the challenges to the Affordable Care Act (ACA) being heard at the Supreme Court this week is the idea that Barack Obama wants to take away your freedoms (as Mitt Romney himself asserted today). I’ve long since stopped counting the number of ridiculous things said about Obama, but this might be the ridiculousest of them all. … I defy anyone to name for me a...

On the Second Anniversary of the Affordable Care...
32.5 million seniors and people with disabilities on Medicare, including 3 million Californians, have already taken advantage of life-saving preventive services, including mammograms …and colonoscopies, which are now free of charge.
People in Medicare who’ve hit the dreaded gap in prescription drug coverage saved, on average, $635 on medications over the last two years. That’s...

Etch-A-Sketch Update
“I’m very much in favor of people recognizing that these high gasoline prices are probably here to stay,” - Mitt Romney, 2006.
“Gov. Romney believes the best way to help lower gas prices is for long-term structural reform, which is why he supports aggressive action to expand domestic production and guarantee the American people a reliable, affordable supply of energy for the...

The Road We've Traveled
Amazing movie. It just makes me so glad that President Obama was at the helm of things, making the tough choices, over and over again. Thank you, President Obama.

Nodding Disease and Ugandan Children
Two hundred Ugandan children, dead. Roughly 4,000 more harmed, many rendered incapable of living full lives as adults. All since 2009 — and with no end in sight.
If you think the killer here is Joseph Kony, you’re wrong. It’s a sinister illness called Nodding Disease, and the problem is getting worse.

Crowdsourcing Stories of Corruption
Website http://ipaidabribe.com/ gathers stories from people who either paid bribes, or were requested to pay and didn’t cough up. Makes for interesting reading and also, an interesting social experiment. Will this shame people into not requesting/accepting/paying bribes? I guess time will tell, but the bribery culture is so bad in India that something does need to change.

Yeah! We need to stop the gubmint from indoctrinating our kids!
I mean, they say they’re just teaching pre-schoolers their colors, but they teach kids the color RED! And letters! But did you know that letters are used to spell “communism”?

Dubious Finances
From “Visible Children”:
“Invisible Children has been condemned time and time again. As a registered not-for-profit, its finances are public. Last year, the organization spent $8,676,614. Only 32% went to direct services (page 6), with much of the rest...

Romney on CNBC this morning: “What I say is we’re going to cut the top marginal rate across-the-board by 20 percent, and at the same time, we’re going to limit deductions and exemptions to pay for most of that and then additional growth will pay for the rest of that such that our plan doesn’t increase the deficit. via TPM: President Obama called the Georgetown University law student who testified at a House contraception hearing last week, thanking her for speaking out about the concerns of American women.
Sandra Fluke told MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell that the president called her while she was in the green room waiting to go on television. Obama “said I should tell my parents that they should be proud,”...
